New law puts bigger bite in retail theft crimes

WATERTOWN — A week ago, Gov. Tony Evers signed Assembly Bill 89 — turning it into WIsconsin Act 106 with a stoke of his pen. The law’s authors, State Rep. William Penterman and State Sen. André Jacque, visited Watertown’s Piggly Wiggly on Thursday afternoon to celebrate.

The law enhances penalties for shoplifting offenses.
